Re: exhaust

This is definately illegal. If you do this that means there is not cat. converter to make the vehicles emissions cleaner. You will definately have a 'Service Engine Soon' light on all the time because you'll have to disconnect the oxygen sensors which will in turn set the light off. You car will be louder, as well, because there is no muffler to quiet it down. Finally, you will get fumes coming into the car. If you remove everything excpet the headers, the exhaust will come out right at the firewall.

Don't do it...

Re: exhaust

Ontop of everything he said, running your engine without an exhaust system can burn the valves.

And yes; if you're referring to removing the whole system, it will be loud as HELL.

There are a couple websites out there make "Cat-back" exhaust systems for the alero. One is "partsforyourcar.com" try them. it's kinda pricey though.

On a side note....to anyone listening? Has anybody ever put "super traps" on a alero before. I've always seen them on muscle cars, but never on anything newer?

Re: exhaust

I wasnt impressed with borla's exhaust system for the alero... and I felt it a bit to pricey... but as for thier site its not bad for you can listen to the different exhaust on there.
But the main reason why im bored with borla is that is all everyone says to get for the alero....I say be creative...cause what is the difference in puting your own muffs on there to what they prefab for you...see the thing is if you run the same size piping but your own muffs... the only difference is that they made thiers fancy with stainless steel and yours isnt. All your truely paying for i the name.

Re: exhaust

People should be allowed to do whatever they can without pulluting our air to help with
gas mileage with the gas price's going up an aftermarket exhaust can help with gas mileage.
My Honda civic 4dr has an aftermarket exhaust including headers no cat its a greedy exhaust system
which yes give's a little noise but its just for gas mileage. Before I put the exhaust system on I was getting
around 28 miles per gallon now I'm getting 38 miles per gallon and just because it makes a little
noise I have to change it. NO I will not change it, its time someone stand up and Lobby this law no longer
will people that drive little cars that make big noise be bully into changing their Exhaust system. I have
lots of friends with big trucks with louder Exhaust system than mine do they get pulled over and issued tickets no
they do not. So I'm starting a Petition to get this law change I need Ten Thousand signature and instead of
complaining about the Police Officer who issue the tickets I'm going after the people that made this law. As gas
price's go up people of the United States should be aloud to do what ever it takes to help with the gas
mileage without polluting our air its your vehicle do what you want lets make a stand help me change this
law send me an email at [email protected] together we can make different's.

Re: exhaust

There's this neighbor kid on the other block that has a loud Honda, or something. I can hear him drive from his house to the main light, and then I can hear him making his left turn and accelerate down the street. This is winter with the windows closed and on a different street. There is no way I would want everyone in the neighborhood to know that I was leaving. I wish his car would blow up.
