dies with driving

my passat will drive right along and just die not spitting or sputtering at all, it will start right back up and go again for a while, happens while giving it gas or not, anyone have and idea whats going on? please help

A relay, such as ECM or fuel pump, getting hot or the fuel pump itself . Possibly a bad connection at the electrical connector at the distributor.

thanks for the info, will try looking at that, pump is new and the filter too, changed the fuse too, but gets very hot in short distance, hope i get this fixed before snow flies lol.
