What the $(%&^#* with my trip odometer???

My truck is a 2001 Silverado. V8 motor w/ automatic. About the time the truck turned 100,000 miles my trip odometer started goofing up. The trip meter resets itself without me pushing the reset button. It just seems to start over whenever it wants, sometimes while driving. Also, the hour meter function appears and lights up when I park. Normally I understand you have to push a button and as I seem to recall, you have to hold the button for a brief time to get the hour function to appear. My hour display appears on its own when I turn off the switch. The odometer itself works correctly. Does anyone have any ideas regarding these gremlins? Thanks for reading, and if you have ideas, your feedback is appreciated. -- Eddie

Sounds like a bad solder or a stuck switch to me, usually means a new cluster for many unless your´re handy with electronic boards

Agrees with Silveradoman. I had that problem with the Digital Dash in my Blazer and then the speedo starting freaking out. So I sent it into Mrwhizard to be replaced and it worked flawlessly after that. Turns out the Micro Power Supply on it was ruined. But, as for the Silverado's it's probably a bad Solder joint as SIlveradoman has mentioned.

That Mr Whizard may be just what I'm looking for. I got an 86 Silverado SS in my bay at work with a wasted cluster, and finding a replacement has been tough so far.

Well I was pretty happy with their response. I think I was only without a dash for 10 days from shipping to return. They are quick to respond to emails and phone calls as well...

Good luck.
