Car ignorance first hand

I went to visit gf for the weekend and I got to meet a few of her friends... one was a self proclaimed "car guy" (John) and we got to talking about cars and here are a few opinions that made me scratch my head

1) Met his friend who just put his intake under the car, about 4 inches off the ground, which everyone seemed to think was a great idea...I mamaged to point out the fact that if he hits a speed bump half his intake is gonna snap in half and be left on the highway

2) John's 1998 Honda Civic is completely stock, (except for neon green tire plugs) but apparently makes a whistle sound in high RPM...he thinks there may actually be a turbo in it...when I told him there isn't, he figured it was the intake, because its on top of the engine...on top

3) Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4's do NOT come in AWD...I tried to tell him but he refused to believe me

4) Honda makes an H24 (no not the K24) and it came out last month and makes 285hp and takes very well to boost

5) Stock Supra rules all...exotics, muscle cars...rules all because of F&F

6) Integra Type R comes ready made for a "level 4" turbo to be thrown in...I tried to explain that their not because of compression ratio ect, but he refused to believe me...

He was a very nice guy, but man his car knowledge made my head hurt, I hope he never actually gets a fast car

being 18yo you encounter a lot of ignorance. I say I that I know maybe two people out of 20 (car guys) that know their stuff. The worse part about it is you can't even make them believe your right. They are always dead set on what they think. I just kinda stop trying to help nowadays though.

I beleive you're misinformed on this one. But ignorant people suck, especially when they refuse to listen to someone who knows better.

Wait, I'm not clear whether or not HE was telling YOU that VR4's don't come with AWD, or the other way around. I'm assuming that he was the one doing the telling.

Fucking kids.

lolz i hate people like that. its okay to for them to not know and want to learn, but its not okay to be ignorant and pretend you know everything.

anyways, yeah your wrong about the VR4. all VR4's from mitsu's are turbo AWD. the gallant VR4 are turbo AWD, 3000GT's are twin turbo AWD, and some even have All Wheel Steering with active aerodynamic's.

I guess something got lost in translation....

I was trying to say that his opinions were... 1) 2) 3) ect....so it was his opinion that 3KGT VR4's didn't come in AWD...I tried to tell him otherwise but he wouldnt listen

and yeah he was really proud of his Civic...he always made sure he reved his civic to 6K evey time he accelerated, and tried to chirp the tires as much as he could

The sad thing is for every 1 person who catches all of his bs there's 10 other people who actually believe him.

Well if that's the case...I think the previous owners of my car did some SERIOUS modifications I was unaware of... That or my driving abilities suck, because I sure as hell can't spin tires...

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.
