Anyone have this problem before???

Disconnected the negative battery terminal on the 2003 Stratus R/T to clean the corrosion. After reconnecting the car started fine and ran for 5 min before i shut it down. 5 min later when I went to move the car it started but but not idle, RPM dropped to zero and car died. I can keep it running with foot on the accelerator but as soon as you let off it dies. No check engine light and every thing else works fine. Is there a reset that has to be done after disconnecting the battery??

disconecting the battery IS the reset... try to disconect it again... and plug it back up... if this doesent work take it to the shop u broke something lol

It's possible that the computer has reset to the base defaults. It'll take about 20-30 miles of driving for the computer to relearn. Now go buy a memory saver from your local parts store, basically a 9 volt battery with a cigarette lighter plug, keeps the computer memory intact when removing the battery.

But the cigarette socket for a lot of vehicles out there arent powered or connected to the circuit untill the ignition is placed in the Accessory On position, my 96 nissan 240sx is an example. Can you possibly turn the ignition to accessory on, stick in the memory saver and diconnect the battery without doing damage to the electrical system, especially to the ECU?

sounds like the controller lost where the iac steps were.learns iac in drive at idle. put it in gear, double foot gas brake keep running and slowly and patiently remove accellerator pedal iac should take over and relearn. may be carboned up and not wanting to move maybe clean the throttle body and at worst remove iac and clean pintle and bore. good luck.

Same thing happened to me, luckly my landlords son is a mechanic and helped me out. You need to reset the computer, idle your car at around 1500 to 2000 rpm for about 2 minutes..( I had to do this twice) and that should do the trick.

I had a Toyota that was the same way. But the Dodge, like most American cars, stays on w/out needing a key in the ignition. The lighter, er I mean power outlet, is always on.
