3000GT gearbox failure! help, please!

Hello, everyone. I have a serious problem with my Mitsubishi 1990 3000GT. My gear box suddenly stops working this morning. I can not get the car into any gear. The gear stick is just like a spoon in a cup which can be spin around without any resistance. Please help me. Could any one tell me what’s the problem might be and any way to fix it? Thanks very much.

Re: 3000GT gearbox failure! help, please!

So you have a 1990 3000GT? You must live in Japan, and it must have GTO on the back then.

Anyway, check your shifter cable connections. They're on the top of the transmission and at the shifter itself. You can check the ones on top of the transmission by opening the hood and looking, and the one's inside the car by pulling up your shift boot. Make sure they're connected!

yes, check to shifter cables, as Twizted said.

you might also check the slave cylinder. for you to randomly just not be able to get into any gear, that yells slave cylinder failure.

lol, my shift problem only occured in 3/4 gears... and mine did turn out to be an internal problem... but nothing a $.95 roll pin (PN 701722) couldn't cure...

I like the pop-ups, until something like a deer tears them up... extremely hard and expensive to fix them
