I have a 96 Nissan Maxima. I have already done the intake, y-pipe, and threw iridium plugs in. My question is what is the next best mod that will give me the most power for my $? I am not trying to go crazy ripping the engine apart. I'm just looking for some basic mods that will give me hp. I was thinking about doing a cat-back but I don't think it gives enough power for the $. Besides I heard that a Maxima with a y-pipe installed is loud as hell with a cat-back. Does anyone know any good mods without going crazy?

Re: Next performance upgrade
well, the only big ones left are a VI(variable intake manifold) and having your ECU done, preferably by Technosquare. you could also do pulleys, a clutch and a flywheel but you won't see any significan gains. after that you're probably looking in the turbo/SC or nitrous area.

Re: Next performance upgrade
yeah, its difficult to do anything else without spending money. the best mods are ypipe, ecu upgrade, and going with lighter wheels. ecu upgrade is going to cost you, and a set of wheels would be about double that unless you went rota subzero. maybe a 50 shot is the answer !

Giving stock vehicle chance to get more air is best per $. Take all intake parts out, measure, calculate each part area, compare. Think. If one piece dia is smaller than any other (=choking), enlarge that part. In 3gen VGE, there is lots todo. For ref, check out http://www.cardomain.com/ride/748507/2 . |

Thanks for the replies. I guess an ecu upgrade or chip would be the next thing. I would do some nos or a turbo but i have to keep in mind that my car now has 200,000 miles on it. But it still runs like new and i'm still taking most cars i go up against in my class. I plan to get serious and start throwing things like nos and a turbo in after this engine is shot which seems like that won't be for a while.
