im back, now help me dammit!!!
hey guys how is everyone?
ive got a problem with a check engine light. i put in a different ecu, thats tuned. 1st off it runs great, just fine no problems there. but the 1st day i tested it, after going wot with it the cel came on. so shit, stopped and shut it off. nothing seemed wrong. turn it on and lights gone, runs the same very good. i havnt had time to mess with it again till today. same story. runs great but the light will come n every time if you hit it. not right away, it seems to be after the 2nd turbo has been hittin. i tried to reset the ecu today, the disconnct batery and hold brake. that didnt stop it. soooo...any ideas? i dont know if its a stored code or what, but if it got reset shouldnt it go away(if i even did it right, who knows) other things i can think maybe, is this ecu is from a japanese car so could that just cause it? havnt been able to talk to anyone who runs one. like there is no egr and stuff, bt i dont suppose that would do anything... i mean the ecu is running a different car/engine than its from so would it not like it? but still i runs just fine! i had somemother theories but i cant think of wat they were atm...ill be back. gonna do more searching

now i found this...could i be right about the egr thing?
"now i've heard about a 94 ecu in a 93 chassie throwing a check engine light b/c of the EGR valve and extra emissions" i also read for different years sometimes the codes dont match up. maybe that causes it? im not sure which year this ecu is from, somewhere between 93-95.. im just freakin out because although im 99% sure its running right i really dont lke the idea of this light coming on!

The CEL is (for the most part) a lite to indicate an emmissions problem. So from the sounds of it you are correct in the assumption that is is likely the EGR.
Did you just buy a used JDM ECU or was it one that you got tuned? If you had work on it then i suggest you talk to whoever did the re-programing to it and see if this problem can be corrected as a CEL is one of those things i hate to see.

well got around to it and i pulled a code 16. egr
so whew that is all...just gotta see if theres a way to keep the light from goin off all the time. even before i got it i havnt been able to find a site to contact the company. it was tuned by mines in japan. anyone knows their site that would be cool i havnt found it.

heres a reason i found why the light may come on when it does:
EGR at idle = off EGR at high speed = off EGR at deceleration = off EGR at heavy load = off EGR in 5th gear and above 1700 RPM and below 3850RPM = On well somewhat...it seeems like high rpms in general. anyway i found a fix to keep the light from coming on and ill probably just remove the egr.
