Unhappy Definition of a Ricer.............

Going around AF and reading all these threads and post and whatnot, I see that there are many mixed reviews and meanings on the term ricer. Well I feel that I will write-up what a true ricer is:

I feel that being a ricer is not the appearance of the car, but the attitude/mentality of the driver. For example: Everyone disses Honda's, but in reality their GREAT economical car that will be worth their money, also they have great resale. But as soon as the driver acts as if their civic is fast, then you know their a ricer.

Another great example is where I live (In SC). Alot, ALOT of kids down here have pick-up trucks, that they jack the fuck up like 24 inch lift kits, and huge mudding tires, but then you see that their truck is not even 4WD, thats ok and all, but as soon as they go mudding and they think thier the hit, then you know their a ricer.

But as for the cars that have the HUGE spoilers and crap like that, thats just pure BAD taste, but if they think that their car is fast, and act that way, then you know their a ricer.

Well thats all i have to say, hopefully you get my drift on ricer and all.

Also, where did the term ricer come from???

Re: Definition of a Ricer.............

Ricer comes from all those modded imports from japan with the body kits and all that flashy stuff until what it is today. I don't think there could be a true definition of ricer, because it's always changing. When the first Fast and the Furious movie came out, everyone loved how the cars looked, but now they look God awful. I think it's just the fact that the point of modifying your car, was to set your it apart from everyone else. Too bad everyone else has already done it. They just see "modified" cars all the time now and it's just not eye catching anymore.

On the other hand, if you put something on your car and you only put it on so you could make people think it's something it's not, then I suppose you could call them a ricer. Automotive posuer, if you will. ..but hey, hasn't this always been true? Companies have always slapped on badges on their cars to make it sound better than it really is.

I dunno about you guys, but the only rice I'm familliar with is the rice i eat with my chicken. Everything else is just preference, if someone wants to do something rice to their car, let them. Some people even do it to be funny, and come on, you know it makes you smile to see a civic with a football goalpost on the back

Re: Definition of a Ricer.............

Well as I posted in another thread a while back, I mentioned the time that I put a huge APC Spoiler on the roof of my car just cause I paid practially nothing for it and I didn't want to have it just sitting around. So by putting it on the roof I thought it was funnier than hell and other people got a hell of a knee slapper to tell there friends. So by doing this everybody benefited, I knew I wasn't fast and sure as hell never acted like it but would I still classify as RICE? I wouldn't say so cause I did it for humor sake not for performance.

Re: Definition of a Ricer.............

Ok, seriously... Didn't somebody give the perfect definition of a ricer about a month ago in one of these threads? They had like an entire page that they got from Cardomain or something...

These threads are becoming so repetitive and annoying. Whatever happen to threads with a point to them? Better yet, tell me what the point to THIS thread is...

Re: Definition of a Ricer.............

Pretty sure the ricer term thread has run its course about 5 billion times by now. We all know what a ricer is and what it means to be one.

Re: Definition of a Ricer.............

RICER=POSER thats all ther is to it. i have alot of respect for hondas... i kinda have to my brother has a 92 prelude my 2 best friends have civics and my cousin has a civic and they all have shit done to them. it all just depends on what kind of taste you have in cars. i personally am going to be buying a CRX in the begging of spring for a drag strip car. people do what they want if they want a fast car then they stick all there money into performance, if a person wants a show car then all there money goes into rims, hoods, decals etc. and if they want a fast nice looking car they take the time to pick shit out and make it look respectable and fast. thats just my 2 cents.

Once again i will have to use this famous quote in yet another one of these thread:
"Some people spend all their money making there car fast, and thats cool. Some people spend all their money making their car look good, and thats cool too. You know your a ricer when you spend all your money making your car "look fast" ie NOS stickers, wings with no purpose, Front Mount cold air intake, etc, etc, etc.

Re: Definition of a Ricer.............

Ricer = a term used by people to put down others trying to do their own thing.

My Spyder's been called "rice". Why? Some don't like the dual exhaust. Some don't like the guages. Some don't like the hood. Some don't like the lip. The list is endless...

In the end, , just do your own thing. You can't make everyone happy at the same time, and "modding" your car is all about personal taste and opinion...just like anything else in life, not everyone's going to agree with what you put on your car.
