Question remote central locking - responder

I have a 2000 Renault Laguna, which thinks it is a comedian.
the remote central locking fob will not work outside the car, but as soon as I open the drivers door it will work. I have changed the batteries but still same prob. the central locking works inside the car using the button on the console, but everyone has to get out first then I can lock and get out and lock with the key.

took the car to Renault who said it may be a fault between the transmitter and responder, but will have to have it in and cost lots.

does anyone know how I can sort this myself. the car is still driveable as the Immobiliser is seperate kit in the car fob. it is just inconvenient especially trying to put a baby in and out of the car.

I have exactly the same problem and it is a pain in the butt, did you get any tips on how to sort it out, short of looking for a lottery win to take it to a dealer

Re: remote central locking - responder

I have this very exact problem!

Maybe it is a problem with 2000 models only? I've just bought a Laguna 1.6 16V Alize (2000) and everything worked fine for a few day and now this. The locks won't lock with the but if i open the driver's door and press the key fob, the locks work but obviously as the driver's door is open everything unlocks again. This only works with the driver's door. Tried the same with the passenger door and the rear doors but the locks won't operate. Again, the internal button still works providing you do this from the rear door.

The other thing is, my 1997 Laguna has a sensor for the central locking built into the curteosy light area, however this Laguna doesn't have that, but something is sticking out from the side of the curteosy light... is that the reciever? Any ideas on how to fix this?
