Re: racing
on stock tires for me, "rolling" out to 15-20mph is a must...
If not I will spin pretty much as much as I want to... And I don't "shift out" or any crap like that, just put it out of overdrive and into drive(3) and be done with it, shifting out does NOTHING unless you have a shift kit... I've had pretty good luck doing this, I went nose to front tire with one of my friends in a srt-4 and beat one of my friends in a 97' GT mustang pretty bad... Not to mention countless people who "thought" they had a quick car but aren't even worth mentioning and God knows how many guys in Hondas who see my GTP 3rd brake light and immediately try to race, most of which result in me wasting gas and my time... I plan on tires being one of the 1st things I do

Re: racing
Depends on track conditions. If its sticky and well prepped then getting the rpms up works. If its slick then going from idle works.
Stage shallow that way you have alittle extra room to roll out. Stage to deep and you'll red light. Just got home from the track about 15 minutes ago. Car ran shitty ofcourse and one of the guys in the club damaged either his differential or cv joint. you could here it pop in the burnout box. |

Curtis, don't get too street racer crazy. Sooner or later you may have to pay the piper......tickets, jail time, insurance premium increase or cancellation. ![]() Keep it safe and legal. BTW - Don't know about your state but in Texas (El Paso County) drag racing on the street is a minimum of Class B Misdemeanor and will land you in jail plus your vehicle gets impounded. Sorry for sounding like your parents but it's hard to say. Too many variables. Here's a suggestion to get the answer you're looking for. Try posting under other forums such as Cars In General under Car Comparisons. Or under Racing, there is a forum for Street Racing. If you want to stir up a hornet's nest post directly in the Ford Mustang forum. My recommendation is to mod first then consider taking on the real Mustangs such as Cobras and SVT Cobras. Most Mustang GTs are a waste of time. Good luck! ![]() Thrasher CAI, DHP v1.0 PCM, SLP Headers, 3.25 SC pulley, CAIT GMAF, 2.5 DP/Hi-Flow CAT, u-bend delete, 160 TS, ZZP Stage 1 72mm TB, TB spacer, MSD 8.5mm wires, Autolite 103, Goodyear Gatorback Serp. & SC Belt, Nitto NT555R Drag Radials 1/4 ET: 13.210 sec. @ 104.490 mph 0 - 60 ft: 1.945 sec.

Re: racing
i have 97 1/2 Regal GS...my front tires are real sticky...when i race i punch it to the floor...alot of HP cars will take me the first 20 feet.....once my tires stop spinning, and heat up i lunge forward and blow past them.

I've got a '01 Regal GS and I never race it. ![]() BTW - I don't have any traction problems either. Consider getting some decent tires.
