no heat

roadmaster virgin here with a question. i just picked up a 92 roadmaster with 158 000 km on it. this thing is in great great shape, no leaks on the motor, coolant system no leaks. i am not getting any heat out of it though. the climate control can be set at the warmest temp and it still only blows cool air. any ideas on what the fix is for this would be greatly appreciated. i have had this car for 1 day now and i'm in love with, i only paid $2100 canadian for it and it is mint mint! thanks in advance

Had the same problem earlier this year. The heater core was clogged. Needs to be flushed out. Its a fairly simple thing for a driveway mechanic with a garden hose.

ok replaced the ranko valve, flushed out the heater core, everything under the dash seems to be in working order. no vacuum at the line that opens and closes the ranko valve, what could be causing this problem?? still no heat and it's starting to get cold here

Probably why you paid what you did... But anyway, I had the same problem. Heater core was clogged so bad it would not even pass any coolant. After lots of flushing tons of trash out of the lines and reassembly the core started leaking. Time for new core. Problem was too much trash/corrosion in the lines...
Hope this helps...

Re: Re: no heat

thanks man i did flush out the heater core everything was great in it, replaced the ranko valve. has a brand new aftermarket heater core in it, the problem was very simple but difficult to get at. the baffle above the heater core that lets the vented air or the heated air into the ducting was stuck in the closed position, needed some lube and now she works great. i have put 12000 km's on the car since i got it and eerything works mint. the reason it was so cheap was because the old guy that sold it had from brand new and was moving to greece.

I put my Roadmaster on the road the week of Thanksgiving and noticed it had no heat as well. The weather here has been continually cold and snowing, so I am unable to work on it at my house. I ended up taking it to a friend's auto repair shop, thinking the thermostat was not working properly, or air was trapped in the system, since the former owner had it serviced before handing it over to me and part of that service was a radiator flush and fill. He gave me the invoice for the work performed and I noticed there was no mention of a new thermostat, ( I always replace the thermostat when I do a flush and fill because in my opinion it is worth the cost and a little extra insurance.) Well my friend said the antifreeze was in poor condition and was only rated at 5 degrees,( it was -8 this morning,) and the invoice stated it was brought down to -34 degrees. He replaced the thermostat and then test drove it. He said the heat was good at first then it blew cold again. He then reflushed the heater core and even more "nasty brown fluid" came out and about a tablespoon of brown sludge as well. After that, the heat came out of the vents nice and warm.
