ABS light, no codes found

This forum has been very helpful in the past, I hope it will be again.

My ABS light has been on for a while now, but its time to get through inspection and doubt it will pass that way. (wake county, NC)

I had a local shop check the code a while back (I can't find where I wrote it down $%^&*), but remember them saying it was most likely the high dollar controller.

I now have a obd2 scanner (Actron CP9145) but am not getting any codes relating to the brake light (just a pesky P0420 cat efficiency problem)). Is there something special about getting the brake codes?

After checking My haynes I am really confused - the book lists a bunch of c02xx codes that I am not getting on the scanner. My scanner manual groups this code range in "air metering". The haynes book also mentions that not all scanners access these codes - maybe mine doesn't (bummer). However, several postings I've searched here don't seem to even match to that number format - like 1821?? What am I missing here?

If I can't fix it cost effectively, does anyone know how to shut it off for inspection? Maybe pull a wire off the dash indicator or something?

You might need to know its a 95 jimmy 4.3 (w) 2 door 4x4

Your code scanner will only retrieve powertrain codes.
You will need a more advanced scan tool (Tech1 or 2 or a Snap on scanner to retrieve ABS codes)
Your vehicle should pass, the base brakes still function correctly.

Wouldn't you know it, I found the code ten minutes after I wrote my post.

The code was ATWC1265 Open motor relay circuit. It seems to me this could be a simple wiring issue. Anyone know where I can fnd a diagram or layout of this circuit to check out? And will the light reset automatically if the problem is fixed or does it require a manual reset?

I know it is kind of late but it may help others. I just had my 99 jimmy repaired for that exact problem. My wire broke on my right front hub right where it clamps to the frame. I hear the wire is replaceable on some hubs. I replaced the whole hub though. When my mechanic scaned for codes it told him open circuit right front hub.
