Re: 13b Vs Renesis

Better in what aspect?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_W...3B-MSP_Renesis

Aside from the fact that the engien produces less emissions it is no better than the older 13B (as the Renisis is just a 13B variant)

The engine produces not so usabel power at higher RPM's. There was even a dealer pay back for missinformation in regards to the power output of the car when initaly introduced.

If you are looking for raw power numbers and longevity under those situations the older 13B is your choice.

Of the 13B's the 13B-REW in the FD offers the best stock ports to work with. If the engine is boosted you will want to replace the stock light weight rotors with those found in the S4 13BT as they are iron and can take alot more abuse.
You can retain the stock rotors but you do risk a higher chance of damage if there is any sort of fuel problem in the motor.
13B-REW housings, S4 rotors, 3mm seals is a great combo, just make sure it is properly broken in as 3mm seals take longer for inital break in.

All in all the older 13B wins IMO as it offers alot more to work with in terms of power and powerband. But stock for stock the Ren is more efficient than the older variants (what do you expect its newer :P )

The ren offers the most N/a power, and fyi, rx8s with the some what new flashes get 200hp+ to the wheels...
Rotaries have never made much torque while in N/a form as you well know.
If you want torque get a 350...

Re: 13b Vs Renesis

yea but the thing that sucks about the renesis is u throw boost on it and there goes the engine, its not made to handle more power than it comes stock with, the 200+ is damn near max power for that baby

the only thing i would say cannot really handle more than the stock power is the transmission, it sucks

Re: 13b Vs Renesis

I always thought the idea of boost (turbo) being unreliable was because of the exhaust disign.
I'll say that t2 trans and an m5r2 will hold up to a true beating in stock form.
