98 cavalier 2.2L automatic

i know many ppl posts about car dies after starting. i think my issue may be different from others.

for a few days now, when i start the car, the engine would run for like one second then dies, have to try a few times for it to run successful. sometimes it does that and sometimes it starts up fine. it occurs in both hot and cold days.

what s first thing i should check for and how to "test or check"?

it may be important for you to know that since the day i got the car, i have difficult time to have key in the ignition and turn. i d have to struggle for the key to be able to go to the run position. would this issue be anything relate to the engine dies??
