Diamond Audio or Image Dynamics??
I've decided to put a component system in the front doors of my Dakota. The JBL Power Series I got in the door aren't really doing the job. I've narrowed it down to either:
Diamond Audio D661i or Image Dynamics CXS64 I've got two 10-inch Image Dynamics IDQ subs in there now and love the way they sound. I'm hoping the component system sounds just as good. I've also heard real good things about Diamond Audio. Anybody have any experience with these?? Any input would be appreciated. ![]() NOTE: Price is not an issue.

Re: Diamond Audio or Image Dynamics??
Everything I've heard says that the Diamond component sets sound alright, but they're very bright and definitely not for everyone. From what I've heard about the ID components they're neutral and have very good midbass. The IDs would be my pick, but of course I've never heard either, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
Though I do own the Adire kodas, and they've been compared to the chameleons on more than one occasion. If the chameleons are anything like the kodas I'm sure you won't be disappointed. You do have an amp and a significant amount of deadening on the doors right?

I listen to mostly heavy metal/hardcore/rock type music so from your reply it seems like the chameleon's are probably the better choice. Thanks for the input.

Re: Diamond Audio or Image Dynamics??
That would be my vote, strong midbass drivers are extremely important with rock/metal, and from what I've heard the chameleons should be able to deliver.

Re: Diamond Audio or Image Dynamics??
You'll get good midbass only if you're east of the Mississippi River
![]() That's a joke that's been going around. lol. Like many diamond audio product, midbass output lacks. Are you ever near the Pasadena area, since you live in Redondo Beach? If you do have time, and money is not an issue, I invite you to go and take a listen to the Seas Lotus Reference. They are about $745. http://www.mobilesq.com/store/produc...products_id=29 Very detailed and accurate. Neutral sounding and transparent. They are very known in the audio work. The tweeters are some of the smoothest and detailed tweeters around (fabric and aluminum). Or if you like warm sounding speakers with lots of midbass output, take a look at the Focal polykevlar 165 k2p. Retail is probably the same as the Seas Lotus, if not a bit more. It won't match the Seas in details or clarity, but it has more midbass output and warm sounding (as oppose to transparency;personal preference)
