Music to save all of humanity
O.K. this one's not as deep as the others, but merits some thinking.
What would you think if we found out that an alien race had decided that we were worth keeping around for thew sole purpose of entertaining them. Perhaps they travel through out the universe serching for life that has been able to advance in ways that they did not, be it new technology or new organisms to add to their collection. As they aproched Earth they would encounter all the T.V. and radio signals that we broadcast. This could possibly be a resource that they are not able to produce. Maybe we've been spared just for this reason alone.

Maybe we're just an alien........... ANTFARM!!!!! (no pun intended lol) But seriously why not be some alien science experiment. You have to address the fact that aliens are hostile in the first place. Why would you travel through space for the soul purpose of destroying it? (Although that is what humans do to each others civilizations lol)
