abs brake problem

my wifes 88 lesabre t type brakes were fine then yesterday she went to leave for work and after start up the abs and brake light stayed on and the peddle is like a rock sounds like a power brake boster gone but there isnt one this brake system is all new to me any help with what parts are broken and can i disable the abs to cure this thanks

I would think that there is a booster. Look behind the master chlinder. There should be round (about 8 to 12 in dia.) flat can about 5 in thick.

You may of just lost vacuum to this because of a broken vacuum hose.

Do a visual look over the whole system. Look for something out of the ordianary. If you don't konw what to look for ask a friend. Some shops have "free" brake inspections. They may tell you what's wrong. Keep in mind, they want to do the job and want to get the most money they can.
