I Hate Honda!!!

Hey fellow honda owners.
I hate honda!!
My oddy's tranny is going out and they wont do $hit to try to fix it because its a little over 100,000 miles. Being the second owner, they gave me some BS about the warranty not transferring...
They kept the van for over a week to see if they could do anything.
After a week, they just called me up and said theres nothing to be done, no financial help or anything.
CHEVROLET!! God praise this company! I bought a crappy 03 malibu that had a lame switch problem. THEY FOUND ME and notified me about the problem and offered to fix it at the nearest dealership. Even though i wasnt the first owner but the 4th! What the hell. Honda didnt even try to get in contact with its customers.
I BOUGHT A HONDA NOT A KIA!!! WTF! They knew about the problem and they have MILLIONS in reserve for crap like this and they dont wanna fix my van or help me out anyway,
This pisses me off. Screw honda. I wish i would have stayed with toyota. They also have the chain-type timing belts!
Never again honda!

if you had a problem with the tranny instead on the malibu, chevy would have not fixed it. a switch compared to a tranny problem, come on now, just think about the comparison you are making. also, warranties do not transfer over to the used buyer. you should have known that too. also, buying a used car comes with risk, and that is the risk you ran into. the tranny just doesnt break down out of the blues unless there is a defect on it that honda makes a recall for. abuse and improper maintenence is the major cause of transmission breakdowns. whether that be you or the previous owner.

The chevy's warranty was transferred without me even knowing, they sent me a letter notifying me about the recall. The trannys on the piece of crap oddys were trash, all 5spd automatics with the v6 were recalled. Ones without obvious damage were fitted with coolers and a filter, otherwise replaced. my arguement is that they never notified me. I know about used car buying, i am a part owner of the bmw dealership. I am furious at the way honda is handeling this situation...

warranty even on recalls only last for the warranty date and milage of the car...100,000 miles is way out of warranty....even for a KIA....if u are "Part owner" of a bmw dealer ship? why are u driving a $17k minivan? can't afford an x5? or x3?....wow spend 1g on a trans...and have one of your "techs" do it....nub...oh yeah....and its a chain type TIMING CHAIN...not belt....and bmw uses chains also....so does toyota, nissan, ford, and chevy....dick

If it makes you feel better, my moms Pontiac Montana trans. went out at 36,500. 500 miles out of warranty and it blew out. And she still wants another Pontiac. Anyway, 100k is pretty near the end of a trans. life. when it is used everyday. sooo just get it rebuilt or something...have there been any other problems with the Odyssey?

BTW saying " i hate honda, or i hate _____" just because of one problem isnt really valid. My civic has tons of crap that needs to be fixed, but do I hate it? not at all. its a machine that need to be maintained.

ooooo....im not a kid u nub....i paid 40,000 cash for my 05 TL....not a used minivan that i have to cry about cause i can't drop 1,000 to fix it....cheap skate.....honda doesn't have to inform u about tranny problems because it wasn't a safety issue, its a TSB, not a recall...theres a difference bub...do your homework...take some notes...buy a new trans...bend over...and take it like a man...NUB...and for the ricer pick....u should do your homework on that 2...cause oem parts doesn't make your car rice....puttin a spoiler where u need air traffic control clearance does....and i put my TL on it that my civic would smoke anything sittin on your "BMW" parkin lot...

Honda DOES NOT use a timing chain on the Ody's it's a belt, I've changed way too many of them. As far as the ext. warranty 7yrs or 100K is different than a recall. Once a recall always a recall no matter how many owners it's had. Ext. warranty such as the trans is 7yr or 100k whichever comes first. Judging by your attitude I'm not surprised Honda didn't do a thing for you.

Actually Honda did notify everyone by mail with an extension notice.

Did you try to call the 1-800 number and talk to someone in customer relations or did you let the dealer do the leg work for you?

Yea, they basically said too bad if you didnt get one, They supposidly searched for all oddy owners every year for 2 or somthing years, through a title database.

Its amazing how different people get different service from Honda. I own a 2001 Odyssey, and we lost TWO transmissions over the past three years. The second one was while we were out of the country, driving on the German Autobahn at 100mph. I had to pay to replace the second one since it was outside the US, but I wrote a nice letter to Honda, and they sent me a check - no questions asked. Granted, my Oddy only had 78K miles on it when the second tranny "exploded" on the highway, and it was still under warranty, but they could have easily said "sorry, you were in Germany."

I'll buy another Honda. The tranny's were a problem, but they acknowledged it, contacted me by mail and e-mail, and replaced two of them at their expense. They stood behind their product. I stand behind them now.

Sorry to hear your experience was less than enjoyable.

So some of you think it's ok if Honda screws up, but not GM or Ford or Dodge??? It's ok when an IMPORT makes mistakes and doesn't notify ALL the ppl who have bought them new or used, as even GM does that, but thats ok cuz it's Honda and they please some of us so thats fine??? Well GM pleases some ppl too, not all but some and same with Ford, and Dodge has the VERY best warrantee out there, no deductable at all, up to 7 yrs etc. As far as I am concerned ALL manufacturers screw up on a lot of their vehicles and customer service, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Next time I will buy a domestic, they are cheaper to fix, and I am going to do more homework.

Honda has a 7 year 100k warrentie and no deductable to.

I purchased a 2000 Ody and after 80,000 miles we had to replace the transmission. Honda replaced the transmission free and 3 yrs and 65000 miles later this transmission is going out too. Can't believe it!!!! $2800 to replace. If any one knows of any way of reducing the cost or who to contact please let me know. We alway took care of all the maintenances and don't drive wrecklessly, so really can't understand why they keep going out!!! Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks babytendr
