First off, what is the squell from? Belt? Possibly your alt is locking up. I don't think the EGR valve will cause the engine to quit. The ports that lead to your EGR valve may be pluged with carbon giving you the EGR error. These trouble codes just point to the trouble. It doesn't always mean that the device is bad. Any think else happening? Lights dimming? Regards Dan |

Do you have the a/c on or windshield defrost on when the squeal/stall happens? This sounds like a locked up a/c compressor. The serpentine belt squeals when the a/c compressor tries to engage. You can unplug the electrical connector to the a/c compressor to keep it from kicking on unti the issue can be looked into.

Re: relly puzzled
How old is the serpentine belt?
Is the tensioner working correctly? Did some fluid get onto the serpentine belt or a pulley? EGR valve is not a high failure item....however, the DPFE (Differential Pressure FEedback)is a high failure item. This item has 2 hoses going to the metal tube that goes to the EGR valve. It is mounted very close (to the right and in front of) the EGR valve. You can easily replace it yourself. |
