is there any coolant leaking? that could mean a hose is messed up but i figure that you would have noticed something like that it would probably be a pretty big puddle

Re: my heat just stopped working
drive the car around, when it just sits in idle with the heater on it may not do much, just drive with the heater on it will warm up real fast.

Re: Re: my heat just stopped working
Jumping in a little late here, sorry.
Is the temperature gauge registering normally? If the thermostat is stuck open the car won't warm up and won't deliver any heat. Make sure your coolant level is correct. If it is too low, there won't be enough to circulate through the heater (not to mention may cause engine damage). You may have lost coolant over a long period through a small leak that was not noticeable. Or you may be sending it out the tailpipe via a blown head gasket or cracked head (I hope not). An air bubble in the system could cause the same problem, but I don't think that 90 Celica's were normally subject to that. Does the knob for the heat control feel like it's actually working, e.g does it resist turning? I don't recall, but I think it's cable operated to the heater valve, if the cable broke, you wouldn't be opening the valve. Finally, how cold was it where you live? If you're running straight water and it froze up, it would be unable to circulate to the heater. Good luck |

I'm not sure if the 5th gen is the same but the 4th has this problem with the automatic climate control.
