Thats it.
Directly under under the B18c stamp on the same flat surface should be the engine number.

I believe I can find the numbers that corospond to the ITR engines.

Other things to look for of course are a red valve cover, and a quite differnt single runner inlet manifold. (its the easiest way to spot a fake)

You look for a single runner inlet manifold!

The standard VTi-R teg in Japan uses the same inlet manifold as the GSR in the states (funny that, thier the same car). But the Type R, like the Type R in the US uses a differnt inlet.

If your engine has the standard dual runner inlet manifold then its clearly not an ITR engine.
But if it has a differnt manifold, with only single runners going to each port then its more than likely from an ITR. (although they are sometimes put on lesser engines).

or if you're building it.....look at the #'s on the pistons......if you're able to...... the different codes can tell you....unless they just threw in some ITR pistons .....

Also, JDM ITR motors differ from USDM versions in teh fact that their valve cover has a 'H' on it while the USDM version does not.

And for the reasons we stated on JDMCivic.com

also the dohc vtec "label" i guess......it's different from the usdm ones.....like.....the "dohc" is bigger than "vtec"....or the other way around......but you can't really trust valve covers now can you?.....too many fakers out there......

there's a very simple answer to this very simple question of... "Is my JDM ITR motor a real ITR motor?"

the block will be stamped with "B18CR" instead of "B18C" (Japanese VTi-R motor) or "B18C5" (USDM ITR motor)
