Intake gasket replaced, now overheating...

2000 Grand Am SE. V-6
I recently got the intake gasket replaced and now something new is happening.
After a interstate speed for about 30-45 mins I get off the highway.
I pull into the gas station and with the car running start putting gas in. Almost imidiately the car starts reving up and almost dying... then reving up again and then almost dying... over and over... until i put the gas cap back on. This is also causing the car to overheat. Have any idea what it could be?

Re: Intake gasket replaced, now overheating...

wtf?

---

Edit: Most people turn their engine off while putting in gas. Just a second thought on this... I also think its a standard by the actual fueling station for safety, no smoking and turn the car off

Other than that I have no clue why it would do such a thing.

Re: Intake gasket replaced, now overheating...

sounds like a vacum leak. If its leaking u will here a whistle sound. check under the coil packs by the fire wall. Alot of times when u take the intake off the vacumm lines back there get knocked loose/off or totaolly forgoten about when puting it back together. WATCH out for the coils, if ur wires arnt new u might get BIT, u'll know it too.
