95 tranny/torque converter

I have a 95 intrepid . It drives fine until it warms up then when you stop it won't go but dies instead . There is a funny noise as if it was grinding. Pulled the pan and changed the filter and fluid w/chrysler atf .
fluid was a bit worn but clean . any ideas or suggestions?
Would a tranny from a 95 stratus 3.3 fit ?

Re: 95 tranny/torque converter

When it acts like that, check the level of your fluid, make sure it's not too low that it'll cause cavitation. Another thing to take into consideration is that the torque converter solenoid is acting up thus allowing the clutch solenoid to stay engaged while your either at a stop light or coming to a stop. Also, the transmission from a '95 Stratus will not work. The Stratus' transmission is transversally mounted, meaning it's mounted sideways in your engine bay. Your Intrepid's transmission is mounted longitudally. The only other vehicles that you can swap the transmission out of is the other sister LHS cars, the Chrysler Concorde, LHS, & New Yorker.
