blown fuse on 03 bonneville interior lights

Help. I keep blowing the fuse on my interior lights and have replaced the relay for the lights also. I took it to the dealer ( my warranty is about to run out) and all they did was place a larger fuse in it and it blew also, they said the only thing else to do was tear the interior out and check the wiring. Has any one had this problem and has another possible solution.

Thanks

Question Re: blown fuse on 03 bonneville interior lights

I am still having the same problem. The interior lights fuse blows. Sometimes I replace the fuse and it will go for 4-6 months. Then I will have to replace it daily or weekly for a month. Then it will not blow for another few months. Has anyone had this problem and where did you find the problem? Also, where can I get the wiring diagram without buying the entire book?

Thanks for the help!

Re: blown fuse on 03 bonneville interior lights

You can get pretty good WDs at the following website:
http://www.ahdol.com/

There are a couple ground busses you might check and clean, then use dielectric grease on during reassembly.
They are by each front door below the carpet. The buss is usually taped to a large wire loom that runs along the rocker panel. Each buss is very near the front of each front door.

Check this link to see pics of where these busses are.

Hope this helps.

Re: blown fuse on 03 bonneville interior lights

I have the same problem with my 03 Bonneville. Blows fuzes on interior lighting. Relay is good. Light side of fuze holder is shorted to ground. I checked each light bulb socket and switch. Does anyone know where this ground short might be? Is this a common problem for this model?

Why are you posting issues concerning your Grand Prix at Bonneville? This is an old thread and members should not hi-jack threads especially when the vehicles are dissimilar. This thread has out lived its usefulness and has been closed.
