Dumbest Thing Ive Ever Done.....

I was really bored tonight and was sick of my ugly 3" rusty chrome tailpipes.............so i cut them off. Thinking it would sound pretty badass, want to hear what a riced v8 sounds like? Come over my house. At least im ordering my mufflers on saturday for the exhaust im gonna have the shop do. REAL DUAL EXHAUST GO! It was a dumb mistake and i wasnt thinking right. I will admit though at WOT it does sound good but thats the problem, thats the only time it sounds good. So yeah, never cut your tailpipes off.

Before you get your new system installed, cut your pipe before the muffler. I promise you it will not sound like a ricer.
Note: I only know this because my muffler came loose once.

how much of the tailpipe did you cut off?? i have seen lots of trucks with pipes cut off a little and they sounded fine. i have heard of people putting turn downs on the muffler and having no tailpipes at all.

Won't sound like a ricer, but it will sound like shitpie.

Not that dumb of thing to do, at least you had a reason for it in the first place.

Its just a completely open flowmaster 40 series, its not even a catback. Some asshole with a welder and 20 minutes put it together. They took the stock 2 1/2" (?) exhaust pipe, cut it, stuck that piece inside a 3" peice of pipe, filled it with weld. then they took took some really gros looking non mandrel tailpipes that were only 2 1/4" pieces, stuck that inside of the 2 1/2" outlets of the muffler and filled that with weld, then they stuck these 3 1/2" shitty chrome pieces on those and welded them on. so you guys think some $6 turndowns from advance auto will help a little for now, cause im ready to put an 8' foot aluminum wing and some plastic spinners on it because of the sound.

NOTE: The truck came like this i swear, since my dad has more invested in hotrods than what hes going to fork out for my sisters college education he would have hung from a ceiling fan and turned it on high. He inspects everything i do to make sure its perfect, he doesnt want shit in his driveway. Which is why he said is going to shoot me in the face if i dont get this fixed soon.....

So yeah, i put the tailpipes back on and it doesnt sound like hell anymore. I do have a question for people have had a custom dual exhaust done or heard one, what mufflers would you guys recommend. I was thinking either Moroso Spiral flows, Dynomax bullets, Summit chambered longtube mufflers, magnaflow or flowmaster outlaws. I'm going to have a crossover pipe done too, so that will help alot with the tone and everything. Im just trying to get ideas, my soundcard is broken so i cant listen to any of this stuff on any sites. Thanks.
