Door ajar light comes on periodically

The door ajar light on my 99 B-4000 seems to come on for no reason every once in a while. I have tried to check all connections in the door and cant figure out where it would be coming from. It will go a long time without coming on the start coming on for a couple weeks at a time periodically? Help. Its very annoying. Thanks.

Re: Door ajar light comes on periodically

I had the same problem with my 2000 ranger ext. cab. Slamming door helped a little, hated that cure. minor adjustment of door strikers (passengers side) stopped the problem and reduced the wind noise. I thought maybe the sensor/light switch was very sensitive but the dome light never came on. It is possible that the sensor part requires very little voltage to activate the door ajar light but a full ground to turn on the dome lamp. Hope this helps, S.

Re: Re: Door ajar light comes on periodically

Most Mazdas I've seen with this problem had a faulty door switch that would randomly break connection and reconnect with the doors closed.
