Clacking Noise

Iam trying to figure out a problem that just started yesterday. Iam geting a knocking noise like a noisy lifter. It seems to be coming from up top. I tryed gas treatment and had the oil changed and added an oil additive for noisy lifters. It makes no difference if its cold or hot. Its gone most of the time then wham it starts knocking. it may go away as iam driving or if I turn the engine off it may or may not be there. Its driving me crazy.

Thanks,
Donnie

I am having a similar problem that the dealer is telling me that I have to replace the head gasket. Have you resolved your problem and how?

What year van? how many miles?

you can try adding "Marvel Mystery Oil" its suppose to clean deposits, gum and junk in the upper engine areas. you may have a sticky lifter.

if you add this stuff, read the directions for proper application.

I changed the oil and added Marvel Mystery Oil. After an hour the noise went away. I still hear a little bit of lifter noise but its quite now.
I have 113,000 on the engine. Also have the leaky head gasket but its not worth the fee they want to change it. Iam going to add Bars to it.
