why do these cars go through bearings so often. no matter what I do I replace these things and the code c1225 for instance is for an erratic speed sensor but I just replaced the darn thing and as we all know changing these is not easy. and requires an alignment afterwards. has anybody found a fix to this or is this car doomed????plus my service VEHICLE not engine light just came on and I am not sure what this is.help.

Re: 2001 grand am se 3.4l wheel bearing prob
Make sure that you or whomever is replacing your hub doesn't use a cheap "white box" Chinese bearing, like Auto-Zone's value line. And DO NOT use an impact wrench on these hubs. They contain a rare-earth ceramic magnet for the wheel speed sensor that will crack if you use an impact wrench to install them. This includes the bolts that hold the hub to the spindle, not just the axle nut. Lastly, torque the axle nut to spec using a hand torque wrench to insure proper bearing preload. Failure to follow any one of these instructions will result in doing the job again in about 3 months or less.
