passlock and security light comes on while driving
Last year, i installed a remote starter on my 2000 sunfire GT. Used a bulldog bypass unit(no key required if that matters any). worked fine all of last winter.
Year later, getting cold outside, i have started using the remote starter again. It starts no problem, after driving for 10 minutes, the passlock and security light comes on. Arrive at work, park it there. After work, use the key to start it, no lights. Question: if there is a problem with the passlock/security, why would the remote starter work at all. Any tips on how to correct the lights coming on after driving. Don't want to have the car stall while i am driving.... Thanks |

Re: passlock and security light comes on while driving
The remote starter bypasses the security system and allows it to start. This is a common issue with the remote starters and often the security light will come on but do nothing. However, it will come on to try to disable the car. You may have problems later trying to start the car with the key.

Re: passlock and security light comes on while driving
any suggestions on how to prevent the later on scenario... does that mean, i will just forever be using the remote starter instead?

Re: passlock and security light comes on while driving
You can reset the system by using the 10 min on and 10 sec off reset, do this three times on the third time start the car with the key. This should reset the security system but if it comes back on you will have to reset it again.

Re: passlock and security light comes on while driving
thanks for replying. I just find it odd that it doesn't always come on. Sometimes after 5 minutes of driving, sometimes after 10 minutes, sometimes it doesn't come on at all. Was wondering if this is a common problem? Is it worth while to replace the bypass unit?
