Gurgling noises behind the dash
All,
I have a 93 Camry LE - 4 cyl, automatic with about 38000 miles on it. This noise started small, usually when the engine was cold and has gotten progressively worse so now it happens all the time. It's a gurgling noise like air running through a water line and it seems to come from behind the center console on the dash. The only liquid I can think of that runs through there would be antifreeze for the heater core or Freon for the AC system. The AC works normally and the car seems to hold its temp perfectly. I'm open to suggestions if anyone has had a similar issue, advice is appreciated. Jeff |

Re: Gurgling noises behind the dash
From that thread, it sounds like you have to put the car over your shoulder and pat its little roof.

Re: Gurgling noises behind the dash
Brian; now that is funny!
csaxon... thanks! that link helped a lot! I found the overflow bucket for the radiator to be bone dry. The radiator itself seemed fine. So, I topped off the radiatior and filled the overflow up about 1/2 way... the funny noises stopped. In a sense, it did need to be burped :-) It makes sense with the heating and cooling of the antifreeze that as it contracts from cooling it would suck in air from the overflow instead of fluid and the air in the system will cause the noises. Thanks for the help! Jeff |
