1975 'Vette

Just need some help with getting some pricing info for a '75 Corvette. I know resale can be as low as $10,000.
The reason I need the info is that I have found a '75 in pretty bad shape that I can get for about $4,000. There is some rust, some bad spots on the fiberglass, and the interior would need to be redone completely. Is this worth it?

Thanks - in advance - for the help!

Re: 1975 'Vette

Good, nice driving later model C3 vettes can be had for less than $10k.
I have seen decent driveable ones with few problems going for as little as 6k.

If this car has a 4 spd with a decent solid driveline and suspension, 4k is reasonable. Decent restorable projects go for 2500 on up.
However, auto cars are worth less, interior pieces (other than the carpet), and suspensions can get very expensive to do.

I don't mean to discourage you, but I have seen guys buy cars like this for $2500-3500, pour money and time into them, get discouraged and still only sell the project for $3500.

IMO do a careful inventory of exactly what is required. Most parts can be priced on-line, and work out a budget for the parts and your labour costs.

Chances are you will end up spending a bit more money than what the car will be worth when done. This is okay because if you do some of the work yourself, its fun, you know the car is done right and it gives you satisfaction of getting it done.

However, you do not want to lose too much money on this. If it looks like this car needs too much, it is really just a parts car, and you should look for a more suitable vehicle.
