Skidding / ABS failure?

So yeah it rained alot yesterday and today, for SoCal its like +2" in 2 days or something.

So last night moving my car I barely touched the brakes and they locked up completely and i skidded about 5 feet. Kept doing it for a few minutes as I parked. Never done that before :Wtf:

Then this afternoon, after I drove to work, I was going to run an errand and then i was braking up a hill and yup skidded up the hill a few feet. (keep in mind I'm talking Barely enough pressure to get your brake lights to go on, not jamming on the brakes) And then it was locking-rolling-locking-rolling a bit like spurting. I drove a few miles and nothing happened again doing different styles of braking. Light soft, was braking fine.

What does it sound like? *jeopardy theme*

Hmmm... do your tires suck?

So it completely stopped after that? Maybe you just thought you were skidding? Or hydroplaning? ABS shouldn't kick in except for when you apply a lot of pressure.

Re: Skidding / ABS failure?

that has nothing at all to do with ABS (i have mine disabled cuz of the idiots at contemporary corvette), check if your calipers are sticking or the lines are screwed up or something

Re: Skidding / ABS failure?

kind of sounds like one of your brake hose lining is failing

LOL, I just reread your post, they're right.

It's likely a collapsed brake line, because since they are double walled, when the inner part cracks, it prevents all of the fluid from returning so there is always pressure on the calipers.

Re: Skidding / ABS failure?

whatever the problem is, it sounds like it's moisture caused. if i hop in my car after it's been sitting in the rain or just washed, and i back out of the driveway and brake at the end, i'll get a quick grab/lockup, but after that one or 2 times it's gone. i've never had it constantly like that tho.
