just bought 2005 LSE V8... anyone have problems or tips? i got problems

I just bought it and I already notice it isnt much faster than my last LS V8, even though its 35hp more... and transmission hits hard. anyone else with these problems? also when giving it half throtttle and passing something to echo off (tunnel or parked cars) i hear a pinging noise from engine (like a pebble in tin can).

The biggest difference you'll notice is the drive-by-wire feature on your 2005. This means that you do not have a direct cable going from the gas pedal to the throttle body. It is all controlled by the computer. There is a slight delay in throttle response with this technology. However, if you have the SST shifter you can control it a little better.

As for the pinging, I would venture to guess that you are not running at least 91 octane gas in the LS. Look in your owners manual and it states very clearly that you MUST run at least 91 octance gas. This should solve your problem. If it doesn't I'd recommend taking it back to the dealer and have them check it out.
