Just wanted to know on my 1992 Jimmy how do i access the Blower Motor? and also where is the fuse box under the hood? Thanx

Blower motor located in the engine compartment at the front on the passenger side:

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable
2. Disconnect the blower motor cooling tube
3. Disengage the necessary electrical connector(s) from the blower motor
***On some models equipped with A/C, it may be necessary to disconnect the A/C vacuum tank and move it aside
4. loosen and remove the blower retaining screws, then carefully withdraw the blower motor from the case


The main fuse box is located under the steering wheel. Remove the screw to remove panel door. There are fuses and fusible links located under the hood specific for electrical components.

You may have a fuse leading from the positive terminal of your battery, or integrated in the positive lead near the battery. You should have a fuse integrated in the wire for your over head hood lamp.

You should have circuit breakers mounted on your firewall.

You will have fusible links which are in a sense a fuse, but designed to be a narrower gauge wire integrated into the wiring harness, so if there is an over draw of power, this narrower wire will melt. Usually they look like thicker gauge wire because the sheathing is thicker to contain the melt down.

Unfortunately I don’t know how many or location of these fusible links.

There must be a reason you want to know where the fuses are under the hood; this may help in diagnosing the problem.

well i am hooking up an amp and the power wire is not long enough to reach to the battery and someone told me to hook it up to the fuse box under the hood. but i could not find it...

Typically fuse boxes are located under the hood; maybe your source was not familiar with that year of Jimmy.

However, it would be highly unadvisable to wire up your amp to the fuse box. Amps utilize a thick gauge wire (usually 8 or lower) to draw the required amps for peak performance. The shorter the distance and the thicker the wire eliminate any unwanted resistance. The wires leading to the fuse box are long and thin. When the Amp tries to draw the specified amps these thin wires will melt, over heat, or not supply the Amplifier with enough power resulting in poor sound.

The best fix is to go down to an auto parts store or electronic shop and buy wire in bulk for about 1.50-2.50 / foot Canadian. You would probably want to buy a fuse or circuit breaker rated for you Amplifier (usually 50-100 amps) and install it in between your battery and new power wire.

If you are installing an amp you will want to have a line with a fuse or circuit breaker as noted above. However I have to agree that you should use the terminal post where your battery connects to your fuse box.

If you trace the positive terminal it will lead to the fuse box, after you open it you will see a long bolt with a nut on it
if you put a connection on the end of the wire you can just connect it here
then wire it back safely into the truck through a rubber gromet in the firewall
i would go with the passenger side for the most working room just how i did mine
now run it behind the kick panel under the trim plate to the back, now if you come out right at the edge of the back seat you should be able to manuever the wire just right that it does not get pinched by the seat when it folds back and forth.
from here its up to you where it goes

as for grounding, if yours has the cargo utility hooks in the rear, remove one of them and place the ground under it using another connector and screw it back down.
