2000 Impala LS 3800 hot starting problem--Sorry guys if this has been discussed before I did look however did not see my problem--The car starts great when cold and sometimes hot but most of the time hot it turns over several times before starting and when it doesyou can smell gas--sometimes it starts good and dies then when you restart gas smell is strong

is it just when its hot.

becuase It happens to me when I stop to get gas or just turn off my car (motor) but still have the car on.

I turn the motor off and leave it on, and when I try to restart, it wont, it tries and fails, then tries and stumbles, then it'll go the trird time (sometimes second) but then it idles roung for a few seconds once I get mine started.

to stop this all I do it turn it all the way off, and open the door to shut off the radio and try and its fine. but I think my problem is because the that damn passlock system.

Check for raw fuel in the vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator. If found the regulator is bad. This is not a vats type problem.
