'94 lumina minivan 3.8 stalling speedo jump

While driving whether hot or cold, the speedometer will jump to the right and then if you don't immediately let off the gas, it will die. It will not restart unless you turn the key off before restarting. The frequency of this occurring is increasing. It is completely random and at any speed or temp. Any ideas? Thanks.

the speedo or tach... im not sure if you mean the tach or not. check your fuel filter. make sure its clean, easy and cheap install. air filter also. make sure its clean. this could just be a fuel problem.

Is it worse when you have less gas in the car?

It is in fact the speedo. I rarely allow the fuel to go below half so I am not sure if that matters. The fuel filter was changed 3 months ago. The air filter was changed with the last oil change, about 2000 miles ago. It must be electrical in nature due to the speedo acting up.

After resetting the computer, the problem has vanished.
