5sfe block with g head
i was thinkin about this. puttin a g head on the 5sfe. has anyone ever done this and how much power will it give? you could also use the 3sgte cams. how much power does those hks cams give? anyone know? add that with i/h/e and youll prob. make what 180hp? what other parts would become useable to you if u used a g head? ie-cam gears, intake manifold? what other suggestions could pull more hp out of this combo while keeping it n/a? i would prefer n/a over turbo so u can make about 200 n/a hp and then maybe turbo it later on.

Hey i dont mean to rob your thread but im very interested in the same thing and just have a question for anyone who might know..
Will the 3sgte head bolt directly and to the 5sfe. Is it an easy switch, For example.. If i just bolt on the 3sgte head to my 5sfe and attach everything back on can i drive it that day? Or is there alot more involved... I know ill need to new headers and an exhaust im guessing? |

Re: 5sfe block with g head
why do that whole 3sgte swap and not use the bottem end or turbo?
it would be better to do a 3sge, preferably the 2nd gen jdm ones (155 hp oppsed to our 120), do the whole swap, its the same amount of wiering and its a lot stronger...unless your planning on building the 5sfe, just swap the whole thing cams will net you anywhere from 10-50 hp depending on if its tued and what size you use or if your using staggered cams...i know of civic that have gained 20WHP on a 256 duration cam and ones that have only gained 5 whp from a 272, its all in the tune and the right setup

Re: 5sfe block with g head
im not talkin about gettin a whole 3sgte im talkin about just gettin a head as a quick fix and to keep it na and possibly do a full swap when i get the money. what will a g head bring the hp to on a 5sfe?

Re: 5sfe block with g head
prob a 15% increase in hp but a 10% loss of tq... but you would need the whole wiering harness and ecu cuz there diffrent harnesses

Just Curious...
Why would the torque drop? |

Re: 5sfe block with g head
cause the f head produces more tq and the g head produces more hp. do you need new ecu and wiring just for a head wouldnt it just flow air better and not need diffrent fuel managment, like a cai? does anyone know how much tq the 3sge beams has? is it all power like the 2zz or is it more torquey?

Re: 5sfe block with g head
a new 3SGE has like 1 tq more than a K20. And I think just telling the guy F = tq and G = Hp isn't very informative. 91 celica can elborate more on it. But I think it comes from having more back pressure like how trucks are.
