Re: Squeaky Doors
That's funny Bob, I use the same thing. Spray white lithium grease works good too, but it leaves a mess that you can see in the door jam. Motorcycle chain lube is the best I've used.

Re: Squeaky Doors
Where can you go to purchase the motorcycle chain wax lube and how much do it normally cost?

Re: Squeaky Doors
Advance Auto Parts carries it in their small engine or spray lubricants section, and it costs about $3-$4 a can. It's made by gunk, and comes in a white can with a picture of a motorcycle on it.

Re: Re: Squeaky Doors
I get mine at the local Honda motorcycle dealer. I use either Honda HP Chain Lube or Maxima Chain Wax. Ranges from $4 to $8 per can depending on the size. Honda lubricants are the best.....period.

Re: Squeaky Doors
Got a bicycle store around? I use one of 2 things on all my hinges, depending on what is available. Having raced mountain bikes for years I always had lubes and degreasers around. I find that Ice Wax by Pedroes works best, but if I can't get my hands on that I will use Finish Lines weather proof chain lube. I first found this use for it when I went to do a tune up on my bike and the bottle was empty, my father had used it on all his vehicles, now he swears by the stuff.
I find the Ice Wax to be the best because once its aplied to the area it actually dries, thus water and other elements won't effect it. Also if its dry, if one of your kids (or drunken friends) happen to touch it then your not going to get it all over your interior HTH Jamie |
