Millage with your 3800/condition of O2 sensors?
Hello
I'm wondering what everyone is getting for millage with their 3800. Would you post your millage and what you know about what type of maintenance you have done on your car? I've only gotten around 23 - 24 with my 97 LeSabre. I have around 105,000 miles on it. I've checked the O2's with a PC based OBDII scanner and they look like they're working fine. How many replaced their O2 sensors and didn't feel any difference? Who did feel a difference? What was the millage on the sensor? Should I be getting better millage? Thanks for your rely(s) Regards Dan Last edited by LeSabre97mint; 10-18-2005 at 11:03 PM. |

Re: Millage with your 3800
The on board computer says an average of 8.2 liters/100 kms, which converts to 28.6 miles per US gallon combined city/highway driving. (34.45 miles per Canadian gallon).

When my dad had the car, he got 31mpg. Since I bought it, I get 28.6 last time I checked.
Right now my 1997 has 122,000. My dad did all the maintance right on scedule. Mine uses oil. Makes me mad. I change it every 3,000 miles. I need to add a quart in the middle, then at 3000 I'm almost a quart low. Seems to use a lot more on the freeway then in town. Shouldn't use it like that with only 122,000. I'm happy with the milage tho. Chris. |

We're getting about 25-26 mpg out of our 1997 Custom, keeping the speed below 60. Tires make a difference too (rolling resistance).

Don't seem to be leaking it. I had my engin steam cleaned to see where it was leaking. That was 5 months a go and the motor is still very clean.
I don't see any somke at all. Just low on oil. A frend told me of a car he got, smoked like crazy. He put in motor cleanner. He said it stopped smoking ("Rings Stuck?"). Not sure if I should try since I thought it should be the other way, get that thick, stuff that clogs things up. Chris. |
