Transmission conversion
Greetings.
I am a lucky owner of a BMW 750iL. However she decided to steal a weekend or two from me by way of rough shifting transmission and vibrating driveshaft. Now before I swap the tranny for a rebuilt and take care of the center bearing, I decided to seek the help of the internet community. My question is; since the 850 basically has the same motor and is available with a six speed manual. Is it possible to make the 750 a manual without major frame cutting or excessive welding? Is it at least possible to put the 5-speed automatic from the 740 into my car? Has anyone ever successfuly made this happen, or saw someone do it, or at least heard about someone making it happen?
