aight peeps, i need to know how to remove my dash so that i can paint it... not the dash trim, i mean the whole dash.... i have a 2001 Civic EX Coupe...
i understand the initial steps: remove everything at all possible - the center radio console, the vents, AC controls, the gauge cluster lense, glove box... but then what? is the dash bolted in or is it just being miraculously held in by those wonderful little honda clips that i keep breaking and send flying all over the interior of my car?! (i hate those damn things!!) Hopefully someone can help... thanks!

Re: removing my dash...
It's held in by bolts, I suggest you atleast buy a Haynes manual or something to help you find them caus eit can describe it alot better than we can and I doubt many ppl have taken thier dashes out of thier 7th gens as of yet.

It's a big project, make sure you keep track of *all* the wires cause there's alot of crap back there and if you lose track of what's what, it'll be a nightmare.

Emmm, wouldnt it be easier to simply mask off your interior and then paint the dash? Then you dont loose any bolts

if i were you i would not remove the dash becuase i tried and there are at least 60 bolts holding it in place and some of the screws you cannot even reach.do what i did that it to a professional body shop and have it painted.they took out my front windshiled and painted it that way.but you have to remeber there is not gurantee that they wnt break you glass while trying to take it out and a new one cost about 300 so go to some one you trust

Any place that doesnt guarentee their work, walk out immediately. We have a shop like that here -- and stupid idiots still go there. My buddy dave used o have a 4th gen hatch -- he got a $1000 suspension put on and they totally fucked it up -- so he went BACK to them when it was time to replace it and he paid them AGAIN... people never learn :finger:

Why not just get a bacl dash board cover? It will save the life of your dash and is also black.
