I was driving around all day in my 95 and on the way home the car started dying the trans wouldn't go in drive the warning lights all stared coming on, the first low coolant, the last before I stoped said check charge system. It would not recrank so I was going to jump it off, when I opened the hood I discovered I had left the coolant lid off the nite before, but the car never ran hot, after I refilled coolant and jumped off all systems go, it's back to normal, what sould I check for damage?

Re: strange happenings with my aurora
i wouldnt be too concerned about damage - maybe replace the air filter as it may have been somehow drenched with coolant as well as the belts. - give the engine compartment a good soapy bath.

I actually did that by accident one time when I was having coolant leaks, I forgot to put the cap back on after filling it up and it stayed like that until I had to fill it up the next time!
I have no clue how nothing bad happened, no warnings, no overheating, but it's not a pleasant site to see your coolant cap sitting there when you pop your hood. |

as long as the level is full, you should be ok. Sensors probably tripped due to pressure not being there when the cap was off as well as loss of volume. Hey, at least the car was smart enough to let you know something was wrong BEFORE anything bad happened. Imagine if no sensors were there and you kept on driving for a while....bye bye aluminum block/heads!!
