serios problem, need some help please

so im driving along, and i have no idea what happens, but all of a sudden by car starts shaking, and it sounds kinda like somthing is flapping in my wheel well (i knew it wasnt a flat tire, cuz the car was still evan, and the car was shaking why to much). When i accelerated was the only time it didnt shake to bad. When i got home, i looked over thing and didnt see anything wrong, except for a new leak of what looks to be oil coming from the front. I need help, cause right now i dont trust it enough to drive it to the shop cuz the shaking is getting worse and i need it fixed fast please help

the best way to find the source of your problem is to jack the car - grab a rag, and take a serious look underneath - shaking at speed - is usually due to an alignment issue of some sort, but can also be due to worn tie rods, bad wheel bearings, a balance weight issue on a wheel/rim, ball joint play, broken motor mount (hope it's not that one) or even a cv shaft (usually inner) that has blown it's boot and is leaking grease.

with the car jacked up, grab each front wheel and try to force side to side (ie simulating a turn) feel for play, and also top to bottom. there shouldn't be much play to speak of - if you have a lot of play it could be a main wheel bearing. examine the cv boots underneat - see if one has sprayed grease everywhere (you mentioned you saw oil? somewhere - are you sure it's not grease?) finally to test for motor mounts, put the car in gear, with the hood up, push the car back and forth and look at all the mounts make sure the engine isn't breaking free somewhere.

unless of course you remember nudging a curb somewhere, or hitting a big pothole - then skip all of the above and take your car for an alignment heh.

i hope that's a start - trust me you'll want to identify the problem itself first if you want to save a few bucks at the shop - so try and diagnose this one yourself.

best of luck.

yea it's really gonna depend whether you have engine trouble causing the shakes or if it's something to do with balljoints/tie rod ends/wheel bearings/cv's/missing wheel balance weight/broken motor mount.. You're the only one who's driven with it - so you'd be better to assess where the vibration feels like it's coming from.. if the engine idles smooth and rev's fine it's most likely not the problem - but i'd still fix whateva other leaks you have going on. let us know what it was (:
