clutch question

ok i have been asking a few questions over the past two weeks about putting a 88 crx hf tranny in my 89 civic lx. Not a problem the tranny will bolt right up to the motor but my question is i have been hearing things about 20 and 21 splines. now if i were to take an 88 crx hf clutch assmbly and flywheel from a hf and the hf tranny and bolter that all up to the 89 d15b2 that should work right? can someone also explain the whole 20 21 spline thing i have been hearing about. thanx a lot

Re: clutch question

they are talking about the axle to hub relation. you will more than likely have to swap hubs.

no it isn't the half shalfs. i have already interchanged them. i think i figured out my question after a bunch of research last night. the cluches from a 88 to 89 are different the 88 input shaft and clutch have 20 splines and the 89 has 21 splines. if someone can confirm this or show me it isn't true reply back. thanx guys

There are somethings different between them, flywheel too. I would use the whole thing. The flywheel, clutch disc, pressure plate from that tranny. The crank bolt pattern should be the same.

i know i am replying late and people probably wont reply but if some one is researching i need to clear some stuff up. the inner splines on the cv joing i believe are interchangable. the outers i am not sure. the splines on the clutch i am unsure about now because tonight i pulled the hf tranny out and there is 21 splines on the clutch. it is possible it is not the original tranny but i doubt it.
