97 Suburban Inside doors handle needs replacing

I have a 1997 Chevy Suburban and i am trying to figure out how to remove the inside paneling on the passenger door so i can replace the wire the opens the door from the inside. the out side is fine, but the inside handle, when pulled does not open the door. Does anyone know how to remove the door panel without damaging anything, or would i be better off taking it to a shop.

Re: 97 Suburban Inside doors handle needs replacing

There are plastic fasteners that hold the door panel in place, if you just pull on the panel start at the bottom and work your way to the top. If you break one, just hit the autozone and buy some more of the fasteners. It really is easy and they are designed to be used over and over.

Try http://www.partstrain.com/ for your door replacement parts. I saved $$$ by using them instead of dealer pricing. I was very happy with their parts, I had to replace inside and outside handle assemblies.
