AC Drain Leak Problem without AC on?

Hey everyone,

I think I have the infamous AC drain leak problem but I have a question. Does this drain also drain water from other areas? I dried out the carpet throughly and about 2 weeks later I checked it and it is soaked. During that time, we didnt turn on the AC at all. We did have a lot of rain though. I also sat in the car and looked for any drips while it was raining (with all the carpet pulled back) and didnt see any. Any help would be apprieciated. Thanks.

Hi & Wecome to the forum.

Have you run the DEFROSTER during the last couple of weeks?

If you have, that will also turn on the AC compressor (to dehumidify the air blowing on the windshield) and could cause moisture to collect & attempt to drain.

Otherwise, I would say you are looking for a leak. There are threads here and the other GM van forums that talk about leaking around the luggage rack screws and also around the windshield seams.

Take Care,

If it's a windshield seal leak, check after a hard rain for water between the black DIC and the tan/biege console. It will leak straight down just in front of the radio on the carpet.
