98 escort Speedometer stopped working, car died wouldn't start.

I was driving, speedometer stopped working, rpm meter stopped working, stereo stopped working the car was would still drive, then it died. When I try to start it, there was a little sound but that was it, and it somehow activated my alarm when I was trying to start it. What would cause all this? Any ideas?

Sounds like the battery may have gone dead which means bad alternator/regulator.

I took it in and they determined the alternator was bad. Got that replaced, hopefully I won't get any more issues with this car soon.
