97 Caravan SE, ABS light on, buzzing sounds????

Alright ladies and gents...from one problem to the next. I bought this caravan a month ago. I purchased it from a friend of mine and we both go to the same mechanic. The van has been very well maintained. The cruise control light always stays on when the van is running. Every now and then it will go off and then you are able to use the cruise control until it decides turn turn itself "on" again and cancels out the cruise control. Our mechanic changed the clock spring a couple of months back. Today while driving there was a buzzing sound comming from the steering column. I thought a bee got stuck in there.(seriously...it sound like a pissed of bumblebee) I was feeling all around to try and locate it. I change positions of the steering column to see if it made any difference and nothing changed. I stopped off at friends house, got back in and now the ABS light is on. The brakes still feel the same. Any suggestions?

Your problem still sounds like a clock spring. Your mechanic, is he a Chrysler Dealer or an independent shop? The clock spring was a recalled item by Chrysler and should be replaced free of charge by a Chrysler dealer, depending on their recall agreement.

He is an independent. He has worked at various dealerships before starting his own shop. He teaches at a local community college around here. I have seen him work miracles! I will call the Dodge dealership this morning and see what they say. Thanks for your reply.

The ABS problem could also be a problem with the pump. Not sure about that specific year but there may even be a recall on that as well.

is there a web-site to go to check to see what recalls there are? The ABS light did not come on yesterday. I started the day out with changing the tensioner pulley. I chnaged the idler pulley on Saturday. The van makes this sqeak that drives me nuts! Now it's much quieter, but the pulley on the alternator has to be changed out now. I know it's unrelated (at least I think so ) but since I changed the pulley, the ABS light has not come on and the horn works. So I don't think it's the clockspring...or maybe it's on its way out.
