Hey, I have a really crappy dodge omni and the paints peeling and flaking horribly. it looks awful! I'm stuck with this car and really want it to look even a little better.
The car is only apraised at $200-250 so i really dont want to spend much at all. I'm a girl just out of high school and dont know the first thing about cars and dont really care how great the job is, id be happy to paint it with a brush if you directed me to the right paint even. Help? please? |

Re: Really cheap paint job
How is the body condition of the car, if its just the paint peeling then it sounds like a Macco special> People will complain about overspray and stuff but for $400-$500 what do you expect

Re: Really cheap paint job
the body itself is in good condition, and i think its mostely the clear coat thats peeling and flaking. is there anyway to fix that without getting the whole car repainted?

Just buff the area with some fine (600 grit) sandpaper on a sanding block, (not held in your hand) then spray the area lightly with even strokes of the clear coat. It will look a bit patchy, but better than it is now. |

I've hear the 35 a gallon stuff is really bad.
If it's only a $250 car and you just don't want it peeling, paint it with a brush. Do something funny with it. If you want to do it right, you'll end up spending more than the car is worth in tools alone. |
